SHARE THE LUV

Hey there,

Fionn here, bringing you something special! See here for the lot.

Allante & Boulanger have quickly become some of the most sought-after wines in the entire Jura. These are truly for the heads and as demand grows, they're becoming harder and harder to find. If you've had the chance to taste them, you’ll understand why. To keep things fair and ensure these gems don’t end up collecting dust in some hoarder’s cellar or worse on the secondary market, we’ve bundled them into packs…

Now, bear with me for a quick rant to explain why we do this!

I recently attended Nez dans le Vert, the ultimate Salon for Jura enthusiasts. Over the years, there has been an increasing/worrying trend with customers being fixated on the ‘hyped’ bottles only, ya know, the big names that everyone wants. We love these wines too, of course. But this obsession with the “hot” bottles has overshadowed many of the hardworking, smaller producers who are crafting truly incredible wines. These ‘hyped’ wines often end up marked up to absurd prices on the secondary market, so much so that even the winemakers themselves can’t afford to drink them. Instead, they sit in dusty cellars, end up in the wrong hands, or get treated as investment pieces rather than enjoyed as what they are—delicious, thoughtfully crafted wines.

If you’ve met or tasted with these winemakers, you can quickly tell this isn’t what they intended. Their wines are meant to be appreciated and enjoyed by everyone, not hoarded or turned into status symbols. Last year, to try and level the playing field, the Salon introduced a brilliant idea: all bottles were sold for a flat £20, with no clue about which bottle you’d get until you made your purchase. In theory, fantastic right? Everyone has a fair shot at scoring something amazing, maybe even a hyped bottle, or perhaps a new, exciting discovery.

Unfortunately, as is often the case, people started exploiting this opportunity. Some buyers would repeatedly purchase bottles, often disregarding the smaller wineries, until they hit a big-name. It’s a real shame and people like this is why we can’t have nice things!

So this year, the fair took things a step further: all bottles were sold blind, and you didn’t know what you were getting until after the event. I think this was an excellent move, keeping things fair, honest, and a bit of a surprise. It’s all about broadening horizons and ensuring that all winemakers—big or small—get the recognition they deserve.

Which brings me to why we’ve decided to bundle many of the sought-after wines into packs. It’s a way to offer you the wines you love at a fair price, while also giving a spotlight to those smaller, less-hyped producers who work tirelessly year after year to craft wines that are every bit as distinctive and terror-driven as the ‘big names’. Good enough for the Jura, more than good enough for us!

Anyway, if you had any sense you’d skip the ramble and would be straight to the cart by now! Thanks for bearing with and cheers to finding something new and exciting!
