HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

Yesterday I was blessed with a trip down memory lane as my partner was clearing space on The Cloud and we revisited some of the early day wine emails from Thirsty Boy x Natty Boy. What a ride. Randomly we just turned 5! Like on Monday. Which is also wild. Who’d have thought?

Seems like the perfect chance to get all emoey and talk about some of my fave bits.

These two from Andrew Marks sort of side gig but actually elite spin off, The Wanderer. Andrew started this label in the early days of his winemaking career, with his family estate at that point having Timo Mayer (another of our homies running the ship). What begun as an excuse to head to Spain each year and make some Carignan has developed into an beautiful juxtaposition to the more classic expressions of Gembrook. The Wanderer wines are sultry and seductive. They’re more obviously fleshy, with a subtle wild streak that makes eyes light up. We get a miniscule allocation of these, and they are better to drink than the majority of their worldy equivalents. No bias here, just hard truths, which you can handle.

Anything Clemens Busch, but especially this dry Rizza, which is essentially God’s Gift.

Same goes for Andy and his Good Intentions gear. One of my favourite visits in recent memory, wading through knee high grass that was 100% snakey in bare feet before tasting in the converted dairy that acts as a winery. A man can dream. Literally all of these are sick, but the Volcanic Lakes Chardy is dreamland. Frankie is named after his daughter which is ultra brave but the wine is unreal so maybe risk does equal reward. We just took a mixed pallet. We go hard so you can go harder.

A Rose from Jeff and Saida over in France which is actually interesting and which is practially begging to be consumed as I write.

There’s quite a lot of stuff in Dan’s atm that we aren’t allowed to sell on the interweb because those are the rules and sometimes people have a big sook. If you like stuff from Prieure Roch, Dard et Ribo and various other producers with the same vibe and ego then please roll through and ask for the special key to the special fridge with the fancy piss.

Oh and we got some pink Selosse that is really good :)
