JURA JACKPOTš¤

Whatās up winos,
Megan AGAIN. I know, I know, Iām sick of me too. Lucky little Fionn is off in the Jura currently, having a whale of a time. But we can still have fun! Right??
Actually, tons of fun. Fionn might be in the Jura, but the Jura also just arrived here in the warehouse. Is that meta? Idk. Whatever it is, it means good news.
Big guns in first:Ā extremely coveted and limited and rare and and andĀ packs ofĀ Domaine de Saint Pierre, plus some excellent negoce gear from the same domaine. Wines that need no introduction, so I wonāt introduce them. How easy is this?
Yet more big guns:Ā extremely coveted and limited and rare and and andĀ packs fromĀ Domaine des Cavarodes. Been lucky enough to drink a couple of these lately (thank u, France) and they are singing. Havenāt seenĀ La BuletteĀ in a LONG time, so welcome back, girlie. Two excellent VdF whites in the door too, the eclecticĀ Mattard, Chardonnay with a dash of ā20 Savagnin, and theĀ CuvĆ©, a lively macerated Sav. Representing the red team weāve got theĀ Poulsard de Chemenot, energetic and bursting with cherry fruit and rose petal florals, and the light-as-airĀ Pinot Les Lumachelles. Stupidly limited, stupidly good.
While weāre on the Jura, donāt sleep on our very own Jura import,Ā Domaine Ratte. Probably my favourite Jura reds Iāve ever had, plus crystalline, elegant whites. Weāre huge fans over here, and apparently the feeling is mutual, coz hereās Quentin Ratte repping his favourite wine bar at Jura wine fair Le Nez Dans le Vert:
Whew.Ā That was a lot of excitement. Now youāve all calmed down, a few other bits n pieces:
After a lengthy separation, plz welcome back to the stageĀ Maison en Belles Lies, Burgundian project of Pierre Fenals who turned vigneron at the ripe old age of 51, after decades of working in the fashion industry in Paris. Whatās it like to be so multi talented? I wouldnāt know. Unless being good at breaking down cardboard boxesĀ andĀ taking them out to the kerb for recycling counts? A mineral, baked fruitĀ Chardonnay bomb from Santenay, the lesser spottedĀ Monthelie ChardonnayĀ (only 1% of all plots here house my fave grape!), floral and precise, and a whole bunch, old vineĀ Pinot from Aloxe-Corton, fine-boned and elegant. Classy wines for classy people, aka, you.
One more bottle just coz I love it, and you, and coz this email has been on the pricier side - yet anotherĀ bargain bottlingĀ from Etna stalwarts Vino di Anna. An eclectic blend (as is their calling card) of Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Grenache and then a bunch of indigenous whites, this is unmistakbly Etna, from its volcanic minerality to its cherry fruit to the fact that you should put it in the fridge for twenty minutes and then drink the whole thing.
If youāre a bargain hunter you could do worse than joining us on the 9th of April forĀ an evening with Weingut Heinrich, kings of biodynamics and queens of delicious, natty, wallet-friendly wines. C u there.
Thatās all from me, I need to go text Fionn to make sure he didnāt have too much to drink and put a downpayment on a house in Arbois with a wine cellar attached.
xoxo
