If you’re looking for traditional Sauvignon Blanc, Alexandre Bain’s not your guy. Based in Pouilly-Fumé, Alexandre’s wines are something totally unique. After stints in various vineyards across the Loire, he bought his five-hectare plot in 2007 in the Boisfleury lieu-dit of Pouilly-Fumé, with a vision to make Sauvignon Blanc unlike anything you’ve tasted.


His wines are bold, expressive, and terroir-driven. In fact, they’re so different, the PDO kicked him off the official Pouilly-Fumé label in 2014. Their loss. Now, he labels his wines as “Vin de France,” giving him the freedom to truly showcase the real terroir of his plots.

Alexandre works organically and biodynamically, ploughing with horses. Minimal intervention and long ageing in the cellar again are a key part of the house style. These are a must-try for anyone looking to discover something truly special.
