Despite training in Bordeaux and Burgundy, Alice Bouvot knew that only the Jura would be the right place to call her new home. She bought a small cellar in Arbois in 2004 and works 5 hectares of vines in the surrounding hills. Biodynamic farming is done by hand only, and the resulting work has resulted in vineyards teeming with biodiversity. In any given year there are an eye-watering amount of cuvées released, as Alice only decides what to make when the fruit reaches the cellar. Like many in the Jura, recent lean vintages have meant she now buys in negociant fruit from all over France to make ends meet. Her refreshingly free approach results in wine with an unmatched energy and vibrancy. Buy on sight kinda stuff.
