From a tiny cellar beside her home in Uchizy in the Mâconnais, Maryse Chatelin crafts wines that fragrant and finessed.

After many years working alongside her husband, Alexandre Jouveaux, Maryse planted a small east-facing parcel of Pinot Noir in 2012, high on pure limestone at 300 metres above sea level. Surrounded by woodland and rich biodiversity, it is one of the highest sites in the region, a real asset in a warming climate. She also farms a small, sixty-year-old parcel of Chardonnay in Viré-Clessé.

In the cellar, fermentations are handled as gentle infusions, élevage takes place in old foudres and the wines are bottled by gravity, unfiltered and with nothing added. Soulful.
