Domaine Lissner, Pinot Gris Maceration 2022

Probably didn't need another macerated Pinot Gris from Alsace on the shelves, but I had a bottle of this blind recently and it was easily WOTN. I also went to visit a few years back and tasted this before it had reached its current final form. It's best in class for both region and style, no two ways about it.

Makes total sense once you understand the uncompromising, almost unheard of approach in the vineyards. They don't plough or mow, essentially they've adopted a radical form of Fukuoka inspired farming. Things are growing pretty much wild. Yields are so low many don't understand why they do it. Just taste the wine. You will see. It's more of a light red, rusty and almost ruby in colour, with fine tannin and plenty of bright redcurrant and rhubarb fruit. The finish is all tingly and mineral. Zero adds yet rock solid stable. JUST WOW.
