Domaine Rougeot, Saint Romain 'La Combe Bazin' 2022
Place: Burgundy, France
Grape: Chardonnay
Vibe: Special
I’ve always had a soft spot for this lieu-dit, ever since a memorable Cossard bottle from the same site, many moons ago. Maybe it’s the high limestone content, but I always feel that these drink a lil' leaner, always more laser-focused even in warmer vintages like 2022. Racy yet textured. The fruit is cushioned by a thoughtful touch of oak (15% new), giving it a classical feel but very much with a modern pulse. Tiny sulphur addition at bottling. ABV: 13%
