An Australian winemaker in Piedmont? Yep, you read that right. Meet Dave Fletcher, who first fell for Nebbiolo after tasting Barolo in Australia back in 2004. Fast forward a few years, and in 2007, he scored a stage at Ceretto, eventually becoming their winemaker in 2012. He helped them shift to a lighter, more elegant style, ditching the heavy oak for finesse and subtlety. In 2009, Dave started making wines under his own label in Barbaresco, and by 2014, he and his wife Eleanor snagged the old Barbaresco stationmaster’s house at an auction – talk about laying down roots!
