Ghislaine Barthod is pretty much the only Chambolle producer you need to know about. Her touch is unmistakable, whether it's in the vineyard or the cellar, everything is done with total respect for the purity of Pinot and a deep commitment to expressing Chambolle’s unique terroir. She works across 5 hectares in the commune, with some seriously prime plots. The soils here are lighter than in neighbouring Morey and Gevrey. Limestone gravel on the surface and barely any topsoil. That’s what gives Chambolle wines their signature finesse, delicacy, and elegance. But don’t be fooled, Barthod’s house style is serious and structured. These are wines built to go the distance.
